Anna and the Pony 10

“No, I suppose not. But I am also hungry. Do you have some food?” Anna asked.

“Oh yes. I can catch you all the fish you want to eat. It will cost you only three gold coins.” Dan said, looking rather greedy.

“I think I will see how much they want for a room here.” Anna countered. “I bet they will want only one gold coin.”

“Wait! We should talk this over. Since I want three gold coins and you only want to pay one gold coin…” Dan got a greedy smile on his beak. “How about if we meet in the middle and you pay two gold coins?”

Anna was about to reply when suddenly the air was full of squawks as a buzzard came running through them causing Dan to be thrown up into the air letting loose feathers and duck poop as he gathered himself and then slowly floated back down to the ground. As this was all happening the buzzard was yelling, “Its the Geese Police! Geese Police! Everybody hide! Its the Geese Police!.”

The buzzard got less loud the further he got away from Dan and Anna. When they had regained composure they turned their attention toward the direction the buzzard had been coming. Up in the sky on the horizon was a flock of snow geese. They were coming in fast and hard. Anna could hear the one in front barking orders.

“We gotta go now!” Dan said. “Forget the gold! If they catch us … I’m finished!”

Dan the Dam Duck took three steps in a fast run and took to the air. Anna wasted no time turning to Splash to see if he would fly them and the horse had already grown back to the size she could ride. Anna climbed on and they took off into the blue sky following the duck who was following the buzzard. They had not been flying very long before it became obvious that the buzzard was either a really bad flyer or he had been drinking at the inn. The buzzard flew all over the place and all Splash could do was just keep up. Anna glanced back at the inn and saw the Geese Police were hassling some of the customers of the inn that had made the mistake of coming out into the street.
