| Splash didn’t look like he was thinking of anything at all. Never the less, he shook his head yes in agreement. Anna led the way. They went around the village with a strange request to any family that had kids. Before long they had a small convoy of the kind of winter sleds that have rails. The sleds were lined up end to end and tied together so that Splash could pull the entire train of sleds over to the pasture where the wild horses liked to graze. Upon arriving they strategically placed the sleds about the pasture. Each one had a rope tied to it that had a wide noose on the other end. That way they could drop the noose down over the horse’s head. Then they hid behind a tree and waited for the herd to return. A short while later the herd began wondering into the pasture. When they were in the best position to be ambushed, Splash and Anna began dropping the rope nooses around the necks of the horses: from above. Splash would fly over their subject and Anna would drop the noose. They managed to get a rope around four of the horses before they took notice. As soon as one of the horses figured out it had a rope around it, the race was on! When the horse took off it would draw the slack rope tight which secured the rope onto the horse’s neck. The wild horse would race around the pasture pulling the winter sled which was weighed down with rocks. Anna would tie the rope around a big rock and Splash would drag it up onto the sled. All they had to do after that was to make sure the rope was tied to the sled and then drop the other end over the horse’s head. When they took off running it pulled the sled all around the pasture. The weight of the rocks on the sleds would more quickly tire out the horses. Plus, it would cause more tearing up to the ground. The end result was a perfectly prepared pasture for scattering seed. By the end of the day they had four very tired horses which were ready to be broke. The bonus being the pasture was now ready to scatter seed over. It could grow hay or even something more substantial now that all the green weeds was replaced with black dirt. When they were finished the sleds were returned to their owners. next page | ![]() |
