“One that you forgot to put new batteries in so you can’t be sure it will still be running in the morning.” Anna said laughingly. Dan the Dam Duck sighed and agreed. “I can’t argue that logic. Just over the hill now.” They flew over the hill and came to a landing near a small pool of water which was surrounded by a rock wall of sorts. Dan explained. “Its a natural spring. Years ago the native tribes built the rock wall around the spring to help keep it from spilling everywhere. This way they have a little bit of a stored resource. Pick out a spot that tickles your fancy and get some shut eye.” Buzzy was walking around in a confused state until finally flopping down on the ground next to the pool. He said in a very sleepy, slurred tone, “Good night to one and all! Sleep tight and don’t let the bed…. (snoring sounds).” “Good night to you too, Buzzy. You’re going to be a ton of help on this adventure. You’ll be a great lookout for the Geese Police.” Dan said, looking a little disgusted. As soon as Dan finished his last two words, Buzzy awoke briefly to echo Dan’s words, “Geese Police…” and then Buzzy went right back to snoring. “It is truly a nod toward nature that their species continues to exist.” Dan stated. “Especially him. He not only drinks rot gut, and eats rotten guts, but he smells worse than the former two put together.” Anna laughed. “True. But he seems sincere in his desire to help.” “So was typhoid Mary.” Dan noted. “And at least she didn’t smell so bad.” “Perhaps if she had; she wouldn’t have been able to poison so many people.” Anna said. next page | ![]() |
