Anna and the Pony 40

From behind the three, came a familiar voice that added to the conversation. It was Buzzy. “A very old, very rich, lady. She has been hurt and instead of letting it go and moving on, she kept the hurt and it prevented her from ever falling in love with any of the other men she met. Time passed and she used her power and ever-increasing wealth to make herself richer and others to have less. It did not bother her to see families struggle because they always had something that made them able to overcome the fact that they had less, and sometimes nothing at all. They had love. They shared, they cared, they always had someone ready to hold them. The Dark Queen only had her accumulation of wealth.” Buzzy paused to get his breath.

Another voice came from behind Buzzy, before he could go on. It was the confident tone of a dam duck. “You see there is a problem with becoming rich while you are not yet married. Once you are rich, you never know who really is your friend, and who is just pretending to be your friend so they can get access to your stuff. Maybe even some day make it their stuff. It is a similar problem that all dam ducks face at one time or another. You see since we always know where the water is; we inevitably encounter those who do not know where the water is located. Those creatures become very friendly the thirstier they get. It all works on the same principal.”

Buzzy jumped in when Dan stopped talking. “Or lack of principal. Anyways what the duck is getting around to saying is that the Dark Queen became rich before she could fall in love again, and because being rich made it harder for her to trust it prolonged her chance to fall in love even more. And much like in real world life, time slipped past taking opportunity with it until there was simply none left. Now she spends her time taking pleasure in seeing others unhappy.”
