| The queen stepped toward Splash and began petting him and hugging his neck. “Is that really you? Were you the one being rode by the leprechaun?” Splash nudged her with his neck and then looked at her and smiled, and who would have believed a horse could smile? Apparently Splash, because he smiled and shook his head yes. “And was there a reason beyond dumb luck, that you ended up with my daughter Anna?” Once again Splash nudged with his neck and then looked up and smiled, followed by shaking his head yes. “Oh I believe I can fill in this part for you.” Ozzy offered. “Turns out the magic enjoyed by our beautiful horsey-friend here, is not without its own flaws. When it comes to fighting water-foul; their was a curse placed on the pony long, long ago, which states the magic will be unpredictable when it will be unreliable. It was an anti-magic curse which means it will sometimes work and sometimes not work or sometimes it will make things go sideways. Now then, would you like to know why this was done?” Even the king and queen leaned in to hear the answer. Ozzy shook his head and said, “As crazy as it sounds, it makes perfect sense when viewed from a world like magicland.” “Wait a second, one more time.” Anna said, holding up a hand. “How do you know all this Ozzy?” “Oh I didn’t until the other night. Or was it day? I can’t remember. Any ways it was when Buzzy and Dan were out drinking together last. I was by myself when he appeared out of what seemed like no where, but he came up from behind me so perhaps it wasn’t quite that extreme. Any ways it was the leprechaun and he was looking for his steed. He talked quite a bit and one of the things he shared was that the curse about the water foul was done simply as an afterthought. Someone said that was a lot of power to put into one pony without giving the other side any sort of fair chance. So he thought about it and decided that there should be an Achilles heel and just at that time a flock of geese was flying by, squawking as they do, so he gave the pony a curse.” next page | ![]() |
