Wendigo, Dogman and Bigfoot Fishing Trip 11

The two wolf-creatures were fast. Very fast. They covered the ground between them and the two men far faster than George and Jess could get the canoe into the water. They managed to get the boat into the water but there simply wasn’t time to get themselves into the canoe and get away. Instead they were forced to abandon the canoe and jump into the lake allowing the darkness and the water to keep the creatures from locating them. Both men swam toward the deep of the lake. It was the correct decision because the wolf-creatures stopped pursuing when they reached water too deep to stand in.

Jess hollered into the darkness. “George! North or south?”

“South!”

The two men could hear each other swimming but couldn’t see far enough in the darkness to see their hands out in front of them. Neither said a word. Both were smart. They had announced themselves just enough to know which way to swim. Then they stayed silent hoping their swimming wouldn’t be so loud as to give away their location. Using the sound of the other’s swimming, they kept closing the distance between themselves until they knew the other was swimming next to them. After a while they came to a sand bar. They followed it to the shoreline still unable to see due to the darkness.

“First lets figure out what we have supply-wise. I’ve got my flashlight and I have dry batteries in my pocket but its anybody’s guess whether the moisture has ruined the connections. I also have matches in with the batteries so we should start a fire and use it to dry out the flashlight.” Jess said.
