Anna and the Pony 39

“We would lose Leprechauns, Fairies, Genies, and all the cliche’ wish granters. Birthdays would no longer enjoy their wishes coming true when the candles are blown out. All the letters to Santa would go unopened. It would be about the worst thing you can imagine to happen to a kid. All because the Dark Queen has so much hate inside.”

When the king had finished speaking Anna turned her attention to her mother.

“The truly sad thing about all this,” the queen began, “is that it happened because the Dark Queen had her heart broken. You see at the same time I met your father, she met another man. We had just been given the power over magicland because we had captured a Leprechaun. He was a very powerful leprechaun and he rode a blue horse with a white mane. He said he had business in another place and could not stay here and keep an eye on things, so he needed to leave someone in charge. He said we must be the best choices because we were the only ones smart enough to catch him. He split our powers so each had the same amount. It was after that the man she fell in love decided he wanted nothing to do with magic. He left her in the middle of the night without further explanation. She withdrew to herself.

Then there came rumors of bad things happening. Things which could only have been caused by her dark magic. Eventually I had to step in with my powers and use them to neutralize hers. Ever since there has been an uneasy truce where my powers prevent her powers from doing anything evil. Sadly the fact I have to use my powers to stop hers, prevents me from doing many good things which otherwise might have been accomplished. One other thing that has happened is that the use of the dark magic has caused the Dark Queen to age faster than myself. She now appears to be a very old lady.”
