Anna and the Pony 5

The ruckus was growing both louder and closer. They could tell by the way the lights which were once just faint blurs, were now becoming much brighter and taking more form. Conversation could be heard though it was still too far away to be made out to be understood. Or the language being spoke was not one which she recognized.

“If only there were time to tell you more. Aye, but there isn’t. And don’t we both have places to go dear? Do not fret child. Aye, you will be fine. Take the steed. Remember one good deed per day. And that there will be opportunity every day but some times you will have to look deeper than the surface to find them. Go child, take Splash and find cover until the sun rises. Then the two of you should get acquainted.”

The little man in the green suit and hat began to walk off into the darkness. There one second and then faded to nothingness.

“What is happening to you? How did you know I was a princess?” Anna whispered, because she knew the ones which were coming, were getting close. No reply came and then there was no sign the little man had ever been there. Anna gave Splash a little tug and led the little horse away from that location. She used the lantern which had been on the horse when she first saw it, to light the way so she could see to get them away from there.

Anna still needed to find her mother and father, the king and queen. They had likely escaped the castle when it became over run with the enemy army. The location of their whereabouts now were a mystery. All she could do was to keep moving and hope she would run into them. The good news was that the sun would be coming up in an hour or two. Maybe then she can ‘get acquainted’ better with the little horse she was leading around. All that strange stuff the little man in green was saying had her a little freaked out. It sounded like the man had said the little blue horse with the white mane, tail and socks, could fly. What a ridiculous notion. A flying horse. A blue one at that. She let go a second giggle since the night had begun.
