| It will never be known for certain whether the Dark Queen was tricking or being sincere but when she accepted the proposal it all began. First, Ozzy sent off his signal that the proposal had been accepted. A shriek that carried across the land. Second, upon hearing Ozzy’s signal; Splash jumped up and flew out of the castle and up to the balcony where Ozzy and the Dark Queen stood. Splash immediately sent his magic to the queen. A blue light that made it impossible to see the queen and when the light was gone, so was the Dark Queen. For ever more. In place stood a beautiful, young woman who couldn’t seem to remember how she had got there? Or even who she was? She just knew that she felt good. Healthy. She needed a place to stay while she looked for work. Anna explained she was welcome at Castle Candi. Suddenly the sky grew dark. It was a shadow blocking the sunlight. From far above Anna came the commanding voice of the leader of the Geese Police. “You are all not under arrest. Instead I order that you just be killed!” Anna watched as dive-bombers came barreling downward through the clouds and blue skies, headed straight toward them. When they grew close Anna and the young woman both turned their heads so not to see what was going to happen next. They braced themselves for impact. Nothing. Why not? Anna heard a commanding voice, “Not today goose-grief! Not while this Dam Duck’s still alive!” Then she saw a blur of green come shooting out of no where. It hit the lead dive-bomber squarely in the side causing him to miss his intended target and instead go crashing into the ground. Only to be joined seconds later by his loyal followers who also crashed into the ground. Dan rolled with the crash and after a couple of awkward bounces was able to come up on his feet. next page |  |
