When they came upon a stream she stopped to allow the miniature horse to get a drink and also bent down and got a drink for herself. She was exhausted and there was still some night left to pass. Anna located a spot which appeared comfortable and laid down. She made sure the horse’s bridle was wrapped around her wrist and then gave the horse a gentle pull on the reigns to get it to lay down next to her. The two quickly fell asleep. Anna awoke to the sound of a small army crashing through the forest. They were coming in her direction. She swooped up the little blue horse, which was about the size of a big dog, and began running through the forest. They passed both bushes and large trees. After a while she was too tired to carry the little horse any further. She stopped under a big oak tree and set the horse down. “I have to say you are not very heavy.” Anna said, sitting down on a log next to where the horse was standing. “I wish I knew if those men are after me. And if so, are they after a princess or a farm girl named Anna?” The little blue horse did not answer. It just stood there looking at her with its cute little face and dark eyes with the long dark eye lashes. “Be nice if you could carry me for a while.” Anna said to the little horse. Suddenly to her surprise, the little blue horse grew to a size which she could ride. “Wow! That was easy. You do have special skills. Now maybe we can cover some ground.” Anna climbed up on the horse’s back making sure she was securely on. Then she said, “Okay Splash. Let’s go!” Anna prepared for the horse to step forward but instead she felt the horse go up into the air. “Wow! This is incredible! I guess I better hold on since you won’t be able to see me if I fall off.” Then she laughed with happiness and felt like perhaps things would be okay after all. next page | ![]() |
