| The next day Funny spent most of his time holding onto a white cloth and watching the back door of the house for when Stephen King was allowed to come out. All that patience paid off. There he was! King of the neighborhood. Funny quickly gathered his courage before he had the chance to turn and run. He stepped forward holding the white cloth like it was a white flag. “Mr King? Could I please speak with you?” Funny asked, nearly shaking while sitting there in front of the big cat. A Maine Coon Cat in all his glory. Sk looked down at the baby wild rabbit holding the white cloth like it was a truce flag. He spoke in a whisper but still the voice was deep. “You seem to be under the impression that we are at war. Is that what you think little bunny?” Then he smiled the coldest grin Funny ever saw. “N,n,no. No sir. I just need to talk with you about a situation which could benefit you. I mean, based on what I have observed.” Funny said. Again, in that dusty Eastwood whisper, SK asked, “And what exactly is it that you have observed, that you think might be to my benefit to discuss with what folks in my position call folks in your position … as being lunch? So tell me my little appetizer, what could you possibly have to discuss with me that would be of my interest?” “Sir, I have seen, er I mean, I know you protect the rabbits in my colony. But there are elders who tell us that you are not doing us favors. That you are just keeping us around for an easy meal come winter time.” “Go on.” Stephen King said, not acknowledging or denying what was being said. “Well sir. What if I told you that you could have a second burrow which housed a completely different colony of rabbits, very nearby. Would you be interested in having such a circumstance exist?” Funny asked. SK was interested. At least enough to hear the poor boy out. He shook his head in agreement and motioned for Funny to continue. “Sir it would require a big help from you. You see I need a diversion. While I am setting the caged rabbits free, there needs to be something preventing the house owners from running outside and stopping the escape.” While Funny talked like his life depended upon it; a moving truck came pulling up to the house that was on the property where Funny planned to build his burrow. In fact he had already started the digging. Funny went home since he had a lot of planning to do but he wandered what sort of people would be moving into the place where he planned on making his home. next page | ![]() ![]() |
