Bunny Babies 7

You see, a rabbit can die from fright. It’s true. When you are a rabbit you must accept that you were born into a world where you are at the bottom of the food chain. Everything wants to kill and eat you. The fact that rabbits can die from fright is a gift. It prevents them from feeling any of the pain that comes from dying. It may sound terrible but it is a part of life.

So a rabbit needs to avoid being scared. They do that by always being aware of their surroundings. That is very important for everyone, even you! Always pay attention to what is going on around you. It keeps the rabbits safe and it will help keep you safe.

Funny was aware of all this which is why he went to his room to calm down. As he sat and calmed down his thoughts went to the two shadows he had seen earlier. Both were in the shape of cats. One was much larger than the other. He wandered what happened to the smaller shadow?

Chapter 3

Back at the scene of the crime, Stephen King had ahold of Mrs Needy. He held her by the neck and turned her so her head was facing his. He talked in a whisper.

“Ah ah ah. That’s a no-no Mrs Needy. You know that! What am I going to do with you?” His whisper changed to a low whispy laughter. Then he pulled her face even closer to his and he said, “These are my rabbits! They have always been … my rabbits! If I catch you over here one more time I will end your existence. Is that crystal … clear?” He held her to his face for an extra few seconds and then threw her down. Then in another whisper he said, “Go now and never come back!”

Mrs Needy scampered away feeling lucky to be alive. She disappeared over the chain line fence and rushed back to her street. Stephen King looked around his kingdom and nodded. Things were as they should be. He turned and went back to his home. His day was done.

Back at the burrow, Funny was getting his second wind. One thing that kids of all species share is the ability to adapt to whatever is happening. Funny was no different. He hopped back out to the bright, sunny world that was waiting for him. Apparently the world had not stopped turning just because he almost met his end. He looked around and saw the birds were still chirping, still going about their daily business. He saw the mice coming in and out of the house like usual. The snakes were slithering, the bees buzzing and the rest of his family were hopping around doing their stuff. Then he saw the squirrels. They were in an uproar. One of their clan was missing. Word around the jungle was that Stephen King had struck again.
