If a hero was not armed with his or her own special ability for offensive behavior, they were carrying a laser which could easily rip one of those saucers to pieces. If the force field was down. That was the key! How could they get the enemy to take down their force fields? Crandel and his staff used all they knew about the aliens and concluded that they needed to get the attention of the aliens, and then when their ships let their force fields down, to attack. They surmised to interrupt the flow of traffic which would get an offensive attention from the aliens. Once that happened the team would pounce! They blocked the progress of what looked to be a supply convoy. At the same time Tracker 2 and Dragonfly followed the last alien saucer which they allowed to get past their blockage. They would hopefully locate the mother ship. As Tracker 2 and Daniel faded into the distance, the rest of Team Crandel went into full offensive. When the saucers saw their way was blocked they began to attack which allowed the first of the team members, Tracker and Dragonfly who was carrying the Beetle, to launch their offensive. Tracker shot fire at the saucers closest to him. At the same time Dragonfly dropped The Beetle onto a saucer closest to them. Tonka switched on his laser and opened that saucer up like it was a can of sardines. Then he leapt off that falling saucer onto another one and did the same to it. He kept up that way, leaping from one damaged saucer to another one which he would then damage it. Tracker kept up his barrage of fire on saucers closest to him. Next came the Black Wasp and her team. She carried The Cricket who jumped onto the first saucer close enough for him to catch. Again a laser was used to open up the saucer like it was made of aluminum foil. Cricket jumped from saucer to saucer doing the same to each. At the same time Lightening Bug dropped off The Grasshopper who did like The Cricket and began cutting open flying saucers with his laser. Lightening Bug shot electric volts into the saucers near him. At one point The Grasshopper and Lightening Bug both started to attack the same saucer. When she saw Lightening Bug begin to shoot his electric volts, Grasshopper used her wings to alter the direction her hop had been intended, therefore avoiding a tragedy of one team member taking out another. “No friendly fire for me today!” She announced as she glided past the intended saucer and onto one just beyond that wasn’t being attacked by Lightening Bug. Bumble Bee came next hauling The Eel. The Eel was dropped onto a saucer and he was shooting electricity onto it before he even landed there. Then he jumped onto another saucer doing the same thing. The Eagle was next carrying Webmaker. She lept onto the first available saucer and used her webbing to attach it to yet another saucer. Tied together they could not function properly and ended up crashing into one another. Webmaker jumped off at the last second and onto a third saucer. Waspman came right behind them carrying Mantis Shrimp. He attacked the nearest saucer using his super-fast punch to puncture through the saucer’s outer skin, and then he reached in and pulled out the controls for the saucer causing it to crash to the ground. Mantis was unable to leap onto another saucer. She went flying down toward the ground but she pulled her parachute cord causing it to come out and provide a safe ride to the ground. At first it looked like the attack was going to be successful but then more saucers showed up. Many more. The team fought them valiantly but in the end they had to retreat. Those team members lacking ability to fly were able to do some serious damage when they first attacked but after they took out the majority of the saucers in the nearby vicinity there was nothing left to jump on. They needed a steady supply of enemy ships in order to be able to stay up in the sky and fight. One by one they fell off. The Cricket, Electric Eel, Webmaker and the Mantis Shrimp all ended up using their parachutes. The good news was that they would survive to fight another day. When the battle above began to go bad for their side, the bad news fell in front of them. The number of jet-packs falling from the sky above, some with soldiers still strapped in them, became dangerous. Those that survived the fall to earth immediately were at risk of being killed by a falling team member. The small parachutes which deployed when the jet-pack reached terminal velocity, only slowed down the progress of what was falling by enough to help ensure the jet-packs were not damaged. Bad news for the human beings strapped to them, or for those hit by something strapped to them. As all this was going on, Tracker 2 and Daniel were coming to an end of their journey. They still did not see the mother ship but the line they were following had to be taking them to it, or one of many. Or that was what they were thinking. The problem with that was they were already in the mother ship and didn’t know it. Worse, was they did not know how to find the way out of the place. The two were not worried until they came to the conclusion of the afore mentioned circumstance. Daniel came to the conclusion with the same sort of awkward unsure that you get when you think there is one more step and there isn’t one. His realization came when he saw one of the saucers flying back past them. He recognized the ship from seeing it ahead of them earlier. It had a scratch which made it stand out from the others. Seeing it made Daniel realize that if it was going back the way it had just come, then it had dropped-off or picked up whatever it came there to do, and now was on its way back, presumably to do it again. Since Daniel did not see any mother ship ahead of them it meant the saucer with the scratch on it had accomplished the goal without ever entering any mother ship that he could see. That was when he really looked around his surroundings. He had been so focused on following the saucer in front of him that he didn’t bother to keep looking beyond it. If he had he would have noticed at some point the stars were no longer visible. When he turned to look back at Earth it was no longer there! Somehow they had entered the mother ship without his knowledge. He gave Tracker 2 a worried glance. The FireAnt 2 was also focused on the saucer in front of them. He barely gave the saucer with the scratch, a second thought when it went zooming back past them. That was when Daniel realized he was the only one of them who knew they were inside the belly of the beast. He flew over closer to his team mate and said, “Track, do you see we are not in earth’s atmosphere any more. And we are not in space. Can’t see any stars can you? Tracker 2 looked around while paying close attention. “How did this happen? I can’t believe we entered an alien space ship without ever knowing it, or being able to see it.” “Worse, is I think we are coming to the end of our journey. Whatever it is these ships are here to do, they are doing it in a very short amount of time from this location. We need to find the way out if we want to have any chance of getting out.” Daniel stated. “I have a really bad feeling about this. Call it intuition or call me crazy but every bone in my body is screaming to get out of here before we come to whatever it is they are doing.” ————— Chapter ——————- The Black Wasp, Bumble Bee, Fire Ant and Dragonfly saw the reinforcements for the aliens coming at them on the horizon so they cried for retreat to the others still fighting. Team Crandel was forced to gather their wounded and fly back to headquarters having taken severe damage to their jet-pack numbers and missing two team leaders, both from the Tribe. Next Page
