“I don’t know. Maybe they do, but I have never seen one.” Then Dan asked, “Why do you think they they were young?” “Makes more sense than if they were short. Don’t you think?” Buzzy noted. “Just because they committed adult-sized crimes doesn’t mean they are necessarily adults.” “Sure did some adult-size vandalism on this place.” Dan said, looking around. Do you think they were looking for something or do you think they were just being destructive? Obviously this place has been ransacked but it looks like they were doing more than just searching for valuables. We should find out who lives here? Maybe they can tell us what the little monsters were trying to find?” Just then came a sultry voice from behind the two friends. It was Purebred Paula Parrot. “I’m not a they. And I can tell you exactly what they were searching for; me. You see, I am the only one who knows where the treasure belonging to the original Dark Queen, is buried.” “You’ll pardon me, miss, if I am hesitant to believe that you could know anything about the original Dark Queen.” Dan said in an accusing tone. He motioned toward Buzzy and continued, “This loyal subject of King Candi was there, along with myself, when the original Dark Queen was defeated. In fact we helped negotiate her surrender in trade for the chance to start her life over as a young woman. She accepted the terms.”
Buzzy shook his head in agreement. “It’s true. Everything he said is true. I was there.” Purebred Paula replied, “I have no doubt in anything either of you have said today. However I represent a party which has legal precedent which proves that if the treasure does exist, that it belongs to them.” “What sort of legal trickery could you have that proves the treasure, if it should exist, that it belongs to your people?” Dan asked. “I have a birth certificate proving that I represent the sister of the former Dark Queen. If you need further proof I can have it delivered by the Geese Police?” The sultry-speaking parrot offered. “No, that won’t be necessary.” Dan replied. “I will ask that you consider moving into a part of the castle where I can better keep you safe. This is not the most secure area of Castle Candi. Especially of late since the little monsters rolled into town. They don’t seem to be put off by anything, including the law.” “So you do actually represent the law in these parts?” Purebred asked. “You two sure don’t look like cops. Retired or otherwise.” “Oh we’re just part of the castle security team. We are definitely not cops.” Buzzy replied. “We are just two of the few people in the entire kingdom that Cotton, that’s the king’s first name, can count on no matter how dire the odds, how unlikely others would be to survive the mission, the king calls on us.” “Cotton?” Purebred asked casually. “Sounds like the two of you are almost brothers.”
Dan gave Buzzy a look that said he was full of stink and was getting more malodorous with every word coming out of his mouth. However Buzzy was taken with the young, pretty parrot so he temporarily was proving to have lost what little bit of logic he had working for himself. “Yes it is true. Ever since my team and I saved the king from certain peril, he has been even closer to me than before. I’m quite accustomed to the extra attention because when we were just lads, it was I who carried the young prince to safety when our boat was attacked and eventually sunk by pirates in the Mediterranean. He lost both of his parents in that raid. I was there to help him through the rough times.” Buzzy bragged. Dan rolled his eyes and kept looking at the sky until Buzzy was through. When Buzzy finally shut his beak, Dan let go a big sigh and then said, “In any case miss, uh, Purebred Polly, you should come with us while we find you a more safe place to sleep. Of course, we will put a guard on your door to help ensure your safety while we figure out this death certificate stuff.” “That would be wonderful.” Polly said, placing a hand on Buzzy’s wing. “Do you suppose I will get someone as big and strong as you? To watch over me I mean.” Buzzy’s face turned about two shades redder than usual. He stammered for a few seconds and then was cut-off by Dan. “We will get right on this for you miss Purebred. Please follow us while we find you a safer place to sleep for the night.” Dan said, and then he motioned for her to follow.

Splash and Anna were at a celebration going on at a small village on the border of Castle Candi. Splash was providing rides for the kids, doing his good deed for the day. Anna led the little blue pony with the white mane, tail and feet, around the pasture. The kids were completely amazed at the way Splash could change his size to accommodate the rider. Sometimes an entire family would step up so Splash would make himself big enough to carry the entire family. Occasionally the little blue pony would really thrill a rider by making himself become larger while the rider was on his back. He would get really big and then change back down to a smaller size. Thanks to magic the saddle stayed the same size so the rider wouldn’t fall off. After everybody had a chance to ride Splash, next came the sky acrobatics to amaze the crowd. Anna would ride Splash up into the sky and then they would do loop-de-loops, which was basically just flying in a vertical circle more than once, other times Anna would stand up on the pony’s back while flying across the sky. For the grand finale Anna would jump off Splash’s back and then he would fly down and catch her before she hit the ground. Next Page
