Tracker and Rushing Water enjoyed their time together and then parted ways about the same time as the sirens could be heard in the small reservation town called Waterfell. Everything was great until the last minute when they were saying goodbye and that is when Rushing Water sprung it on him that she was driving into the big city the following evening to spend it with her ex-boyfriend. Just as friends.
Tracker had one quality above his many others. He had learned at a young age to be patient. That rushing to judgement was a bad idea. Better to see how things play out. Then if you had to say something the option was still there. He learned however that often times things took care of themselves if he just had patience.

So he didn’t say anything to start a fight with Rushing Water. However he left her feeling angry. He didn’t even notice when the black government SUV passed by with his brother in the backseat. He went home and didn’t speak to anyone. He wasn’t particularly tired but he was in no mood to talk to anybody either. Why did women have to be so blind to what men wanted? He tried to avoid the question that was really bothering him. Was she doing this to make him jealous? If so, what was the motivation? Did she just get off on guys being jealous? Did she think that would make him want her more? Was she just so incredibly insecure that she needed the attention from more than one male? Or was she doing this to see how much he would put up with before ending their relationship? Maybe she was just incapable of ending the relationship on friendly terms? Instead she wanted him to end it in an angry display? Was he attaching too much to the matter? It was just a dinner that she didn’t hide from him. He supposed he would know soon enough if it was something he needed to worry about. Still he didn’t sleep well that and was woke up early in the morning when it was discovered that Tonka didn’t come home the night before.

—————— Chapter ————————-

Daniel and Dancing Rabbit decided to spend their evening going for walk. Of course, Daniel had planned on surprising Dancing Rabbit with a flight across the sky. Now he was wrestling with whether to show her or whether to keep his word and not show his powers to anybody until some time in the future. She was already being really flighty, if you pardoned the pun, about going out with him. If he had to guess he would have said that the reason was because he didn’t have enough money to take her out on a formal-type date. Therefore she was hesitant to just ‘hang out’ with him because it might give the wrong appearance. Like she was the kind of girl that would involve herself in any sort of romantic circumstance that didn’t involve the male spending some amount of money on her.

She wasn’t a gold digger. She didn’t want to send any such message. However at the same time she also did not want to send the sort of message to the boys that they could get romantic with her, simply by going for a walk. No sir, you will need to spend some money on me! Of course, that is assuming that Daniel had a clue about anything concerning females. He did not. If he did, he wouldn’t have made a huge mistake at the end of the date.

It was a good walk. They had plenty of laughs. Then when they got back to her house, Daniel asked if she would see him again. She hesitated as to her reply. Daniel sensing her answer might not be to his liking, quickly sweetened the request.

“I have something important I want to show you. It will be an experience I promise you have never had before, and it will be one that you will thank me over and over for showing you. Now what’s your answer? Will you see me next Friday?”

Dancing Rabbit took her time replying. She was thinking it all over in her head. She did have fun with him. She did worry that if they were going to get romantic that he was going to have to take her on some formal dates or her parents were going to frown about the relationship. She finally replied, “I want or I mean I would go out with you again but my parents, mostly my mom, will have things to say about me dating someone that isn’t taking me to the movies or some other formal type of date. To put it in her words, she doesn’t want her daughter learning the ropes on dating while on the jungle jim behind the elementary school on a Friday night.”

Daniel laughed. “Okay I get that. The thing is I don’t have any money or I would have spent it on you tonight. But I know a way I can get some money. Or at least, I have something that is unique that I should be able to turn into some cash if I just put my mind to it.”
“What is it?” Dancing Rabbit asked. “If I knew, I could be thinking of ways you might be able to make money with it too. Between the two of us, maybe one of us would come up with an idea in time for us to go on a date next Friday night.”

Daniel suddenly found himself in a spot he had not anticipated. If he told her about his ability to fly, then he might as well show her. Of course, doing that would be breaking the pact not to tell anybody. But this was important and obviously she was going to find out anyway. So why not show her tonight? “Dancing Rabbit. I will go ahead and show you tonight if you have a few more minutes to stay out?”

“Okay.” She said.

Daniel willed himself to change over. He pulled off his shirt so his wings could be free. He took ahold of Dancing Rabbit and said, “Don’t be afraid. I have you.” Then he gently lifted them off the ground. Up, up into the sky further and further he took them.

Dancing Rabbit was at first afraid. She quickly went from afraid to amazed. “How is this possible?” She asked.

“Because of my wings.” He answered. “It is a long story. One which I am afraid we have to keep under wraps. I was given the powers of a dragonfly. I haven’t been tracked so I don’t know for sure how fast I can go but my little insect cousins can travel upwards of fifty miles and hour. I can fly in any direction, forward, backward, up or down. I can turn sharply at high or low speeds. I googled them and this is what the internet had to say about them. quote: incredible flying abilities make them the most successful aerial predator and extremely tough prey for other predators. unquote: It went on to say they are extremely strong and can lift seven times their weight in flight. Compared to an airplane which can only lift 1.3 times its weight.”

“Wow!” Dancing Rabbit exclaimed. “You really are incredible. This is incredible! Can we take one more flight across the sky and back before you set us down?”

Daniel smiled and took off across the darkened sky. The two young romantics zoomed right over the government SUVs as they were taking Tonka back to their facility for further investigation and interrogation. They arrived back from where they took off and Daniel slowly allowed them to sink back down to the gravel road that ran in front of her house. When they reached the ground, Dancing Rabbit kissed Daniel before he let her go.

“Thank you for trusting me.” Dancing Rabbit said. “You don’t need to take me to the movies Daniel. What you shared is more important than anything like formal dates. I feel like this makes us more intimate than being boyfriend and girlfriend.”

Frankly Daniel was surprised, pleased, a little frightened, and completely turned on by that kiss. He didn’t realize he was anything but the latter for almost half the walk home. Then the other emotions were realized. He was of course, surprised she gave him such a passionate kiss. That it was so passionate was very pleasing. What frightened him was the way she went from being only partially interested in him to after flying, her saying things that inferred they were more intertwined than if they were just boyfriend and girlfriend. Crazy thought! What if he decided he didn’t want to have a relationship with her? She seemed sorta over the top about everything. Then again, maybe he was the one being over the top. Then he realized, or made himself believe, that everything would be fine.

———– Chapter —————————-

They were in the SUV much longer than Tonka had been led to believe it would take to arrive at the interrogation center. Once they were on the highway a bag was placed over his head so he couldn’t see where they were going or more importantly, how to get away should he escape.

“The bag really necessary considering its night time?” Tonka asked.

“SOP mr Whitefeather. For people we consider a threat to national security.” Agent Crandel advised. “And you sir, and your three friends, are considered a threat to national security.”

“Sir that is crazy. How could I be a threat to national security? I don’t even own a car or have a driver’s license. This is insane!” Tonka said sincerely. True had powers, but they didn’t know it. How could they? Unless they had spied on one of the practices. If that was the case they would have either arrested them right then, or they would at the very least not have to be asking him the identity of the other three this night. How could they have been on to him and not the others? “Why did you choose me to pick on? Was it because I was the one that happened to be out tonight and apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time. I want to call my parents! They will be freaking out wondering where I am?”

“Calm down mr Whitefeather. Someone will contact your parents shortly. We just need to verify that you are who you say you are, before we go bothering tax-paying citizens of the United States. Right now for all we know you are a foreign entity that has entered the country with the agenda to do harm.”

“Why would you think that?”

“Well sir you resemble the description of a known terrorist high on the government’s most wanted list. We needed to bring you in and make sure you are not said terrorist. Now the thing we are wanting to focus on at the moment is the identity and location of your three coherts.” Agent Crandel explained. “Son this is a simple procedure we use to verify the legitimacy of our citizens. There is no need to resist providing the information I am demanding. Your friends will be asked to come in and vouch for your identity. If we feel there is any further investigation needed, they will be held here until the questions are answered. They are simple questions requiring simple answers. We need to see all four of you before this matter can be settled however.”
“Why do you think I have three others who are … what was the word you used? Uhh … hang on I will remember, … oh yes, that are my coherts? What are we accused of having done? Can you even tell me are they girls or boys or mixed? A little help would go a long ways in my being able to give you the answers you want.” Tonka said. He was frustrated, getting tired, wanting desperately to go home.
“I will lay it all out on the table for you mr Whitefeather. Who we are seeking are four trespassers. They were on a location which they knew they were not suppose to visit. When they became aware that we were coming for them they ran the opposite direction thinking there is no consequence for breaking the law. But here is the thing, mr Whitefeather. This can all be cleared up quickly and easily or it can become a major ordeal. Understand we will get what we want either way. The only question is how much you will have to be inconvenienced? Or if necessary, incarcerated. Do you know what incarcerated means mr Whitefeather?”
“Prison.” Tonka replied.
“That is correct. Prison.” Agent Crandel leaned in toward Tonka who was sitting across from him at a table. “Understand however that under the homeland security act, I have full power to keep you incarcerated for an indefinite amount of time. In other words if you insist on staying quiet; I can keep you locked up forever. Murderers will come, do their time, and be paroled to be back out on the streets again, and you will see it all happen from your cell because you chose to not tell me what i want to know.” He shook his head, leaned back, and smiled. Then he said, “Son, think this through before you throw so much away. All we want to do is to talk with you, and the other three who were with you. All together.”
“I deny having anything to do with whatever you are talking about.” Tonka said, “But lets assume for a second that I did. There is nothing the others could tell you that I can’t: I promise that much is true. I promise I wll tell you everything. I just cannot and will not ever give up the names of my friends knowing they would be brought here and treated in the same manner. And for something that I KNOW, that I am certain of; that we are not guilty of having done anything wrong. Add to that sir, the fact that I don’t even know what ‘other three’ you are talking about? I would have to first guess who they are, and then be okay with knowing I was bringing down on them such a hassle; for a reason that most likely is stupid, if having anything to do with us at all. Whoever that “us” might be? Get what I am saying? Since I sincerely do not know who the other three are in your scenario, how can I begin to answer your question with any sort of genuineness? I mean at least tell me what we are to have done? Then I might be able to figure out what group of four you are wanting. And I am sorry if I sound a little bit pissed-off. It is because I am. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to go about your life because the dang people who are preventing it; are unwilling to provide the necessary information for me to be able to possibly give the info requested.”

“Oh it isn’t requested mr Whitefeather. It is required. Under demand, it is required if you ever want to see anything again besides the inner walls of this building.” Agent Crandel said with spite. “I got all day, all week, all month, all year, and all years. Feel free to test me mr Whitefeather. I promise you I can wait.”

“What do you want from me?” Tonka cried. “Geez. I will cooperate if you give me the chance. What I won’t do is give you names because I seriously don’t know what names to give. To the best of my knowledge I haven’t done anything wrong.”

“You have not trespassed on any property?” Agent Crandel asked.

“Dude. I’m fourteen. Of course I have trespassed on property. At my age, that is pretty much all I do. As soon as my old man hits the lottery and we can afford to buy land for our own, I will never again trespass on anybody’s land. Okay?” Tonka said, still frustrated and angry, wanting to go home even more than before. It wasn’t that he couldn’t sit all night and trade shots with agent ‘crap’d-his-pants so much as it was the thought that they knew! They knew, and he wanted desperately to be able to warn his brothers and sisters. If it meant getting shot, he would have traded it at that moment, to tell them. Instead, he had to stay cool. Stay calm. Wait for this government yes-man to either get tired and go home or to take a break. That is when he was going to do the change, bust out of this cockroach motel, and warn his brothers and sisters.

“No mr Whitefeather! That is not okay. Give me three names and you can go home.” Agent Crandel said.

Tonka had an idea if he did do as the agent demanded, that they wouldn’t let him go home. They would just end up dragging his family into it along with him. But they would not let him go.

He had to decide what was his best way forward? Continue to play the innocent and be stuck in this prison for however long they wanted to keep him. Change over, use his powers to bust out of the place. One way he was stuck indefinitely, while more than likely they would put together that it was his siblings they wanted: with or without his help. So the end result would be him in jail and the bad guys going after his brothers and sisters to bring them in for the same fate. The other way he busted out. Headed home and warned everybody they were coming. Then he could either face the music and at least his parents would know who had him, so they could get a lawyer and maybe get him out some day. Or he could run again, after having warned the others. Maybe they would catch him, maybe not, it would be a game of cat and mouse.

“Mr Whitefeather? I am waiting. I can have one of my team drive you back home tonight. You could be sleeping in your own bed an hour from now. Just give me the other three names.” Agent Crandel reminded. Then he said, “Listen young man. I can tell you that from your current perspective, it might seem like life lasts forever. It might seem like you will never get old. Or that if you do, that it will be a very long time from now. That would be an incorrect assumption. Your time is as limited now, as it will be when you are eighty. You may have many more years in front of you today, than at age eighty, but the time you have to be a kid of age .. what’d you say? Fourteen? Well the time you have to be that age, to the time of eighteen, when you are no longer a teenager. Its four years kid. You’ll probably actually have longer when you are eighty, than the short four years you have to get all your best stuff done. Getting girlfriends. Sports. Hanging with the cool kids. That time is very limited. You want to spend it in here while you wait to talk … okay. Sure isn’t how I would choose to spend my best years.”

“Well you might as well get your dinner order made and call your wife and tell her you won’t be early tonight because I’ve nothing further to say.” Tonka said, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair. He stared at the mirror where the people who wanted to watch the interrogation stood behind; and stuck his tongue out at it.

“Sounds like a plan, mr Whitefeather. You just sit and think about things while I go get a sandwhich and some coffee. You’re right about calling the wife. Looks like it might be an all-nighter tonight. Lets see how you want to play it when I get back.” Agent Crandel said, then he got up from his chair across from Tonka, and left the room.

Tonka was handcuffed to the interrogation room chair arm. He hesitated for a second, looking at the mirror. If there was someone behind that mirror, they were about to get an eyeful when he changed over. Once changed, just the increase in size of his wrists caused the handcuffs to stretch out enough that instead of using his super strength to break the handcuffs, he merely allowed himself to change back to normal size. Now the handcuffs were stretched out enough he could slip his hands out of them.

Next Tonka broke the handle on the door to the interrogation room. He slipped out of there and quickly made his way to the front door of the facility where he went out the door before anybody could say anything. He hit the ground running and then used his wings to speed up his escape by lifting him over the areas where it was not easy to run or walk. Like a giant June bug, he fluttered along in a sideways flight. Tonka wasn’t sure where he was at and his flying ability did not include the power to get up high so he could see which direction to go. Instead his flight involved going through the tree limbs and branches because he couldn’t get enough height to go over them. He had one strategy. Keep going in a straight line so you weren’t going in circles.

Tonka was lucky. His straight line escape didn’t take him directly toward home but it was closer that way than not, which most would say was lucky. He stayed in the changed form until he arrived at a blacktop road. He had kept an eye on the time and he didn’t think the agency would have had time to get their team on the road yet. It seemed a safe risk to hitch-hike for the next ten minutes at the most. After that he would have to find another way to get home because in ten minutes it would no longer be safe for him to be on any road. They would be searching for him.

It turned out he was lucky because not only did a pickup truck come along shortly after he got to the blacktop road, but the man driving lived in Waterfell. He would be driving right past Tonka’s house.

It was very late when he walked into his home. Tonka knew that odds were the agency team would be coming in the morning for him. He went room to room and woke up all his siblings. By the time all four were awake and assembled in their meeting room, which doubled as the common area that the bedrooms attached, it was only about an hour and a half before sunrise.

“Make the best of the time remaining. Draw us a map to where they were holding you in case any of us end up back there. The others will know where to start looking.” Tracker said. “I think it might be best if the rest of us are not here this morning when they come. Assuming they will.”

“I think that’s a good bet.” Tonka said. “Dude did not seem like he was the kind to forgive and forget. I’d be much more surprised to not see him than to see him. Good ol’ agent Crandel. And team! Can’t forget his team.”

Seta stepped outside and came right back in. “I can see the headlights from three cars, one in front of the other, all headed this way. They’re down on the gravel road coming into town. If we are going to get out of here, we should leave now.”

“We can still fly out. Track just let me carry us all out. Save that firepower for a time when we don’t care who sees you light up the night. Right now its better to go stealth. They won’t see my wings.” Daniel said. “They’re sure to see you’re fire blasts. Seta I’ll carry you with one hand, take Tracks with the other.”

“Tonk don’t worry. No matter how this plays out, we will have your back. If we have to break you out of that facility, that is what we will do.” Tracker said.

“We have to go. Now.” Daniel said.

Tracker and Seta held onto one of Daniel’s legs while he grabbed each of them by one hand around the arm and then Daniel lifted off. Silently, and invisibly, he carried his two passengers away from their home. As they flew off to a point ovelooking the family house, they could see the SUVs arriving. They didn’t drive up the driveway. instead they set up so that one SUV was on each side of the property and once they were in position the third SUV went up the driveway.

The sun was coming up and had cleared the horizon by the time the third SUV went up the driveway of the Whitefeather homestead. When the beating on the front door began, Tonka was already just on the other side of the door. He heard agent Crandel through the door. Tonka did not answer. Instead he leaned his back against the inside of the front door and then slowly he allowed his body to slide down it. On the opposite side, agent Tom Crandel was doing the same. Unknown the other was doing the same, they sat there all the day long. Crandel waiting for someone to come home, Tonka waiting for Crandel to get tired and leave. Finally toward the end of the day, Tonka had fell asleep. He eventually slumped over sideways which knocked over a planter that was near the door. The noise alerted agent Crandel that someone or some thing, was in the house.

“Tonka Whitefeather. I have a warrant for your arrest. Open up!” Crandel yelled at the door.

“What’s the charge?” Tonka hollered back. His mother and father were away for the weekend visiting family that lived a couple of counties over. It was only Tonka in the house. He had not left his position the entire day. When Crandel’s voice woke him up, his first thought was how bad he needed to go to the bathroom.

“Evading arrest for starters.” Crandel yelled back. “You had to know I would come and get you.”

“I did what I had to do in order to get a lawyer. You can claim you have the right to hold me without bail or even a phone call but that doesn’t make it right. The 911 attack on America did not make it ethical for authorities to hold people without due process, regardless of what kangaroo court laws your corrupt leaders passed under the guile of security. Now you won’t be holding me indefinitely. Well that’s not true. Maybe you will, but at least the people will be aware of it. At least my parents when they get back, will know to get me a lawyer. Now you say you have a warrant. You and me both know I didn’t do anything wrong. You’re scum on the shoe of America to do this, you waste of oxygen.”

“Whatever punk! Come out now peacefully or I will send in my team and take you down hard!”

“Coming out, but not until after I pee. You guys won’t let me go in time, and I’ll end up peeing my pants. So just hold on a second.”
Agent Crandel sighed. “Very well. If you try something funny after I have granted you your request, I will make you pay for it during interrogation.”

“Whatever dude. I’ll be back in a minute.” Tonka headed for the bathroom to take care of business. He returned a short while later and announced through the door that he was coming out.

Agent Crandel took three steps back from the front door. He heard the sound of the locks being opened. Next the front door swung open and Tonka was taken into custody.

“Anybody else home?” Crandel asked.

“Why don’t you have a look, agent craps-his-pants. You were going to search the place anyway. I don’t even know why you bothered to ask me.” Tonka replied. “This is so ridiculous.”

“You may think you have us outsmarted mr Whitefeather, but I assure you that we will get what we want from you before you are again free to leave our friendly arms. Take him back to the facility!” Crandel was not happy. He had expected to catch the group of four together. Now it was a good chance the other three were aware they were being sought. That would make things harder, but not impossible.

From a distance three would-be-heroes watched as three SUVs fell into a tight formation. They were carrying someone named Tonka Whitefeather, who would some day be part of a crime-fighting team known as “The Tribe”. His particular title would come to be known as ‘The Beatle”. The three watching the SUVs were his three partners. Seta, “The Scorpion”, Daniel, “The dragonfly”, and their leader and oldest sibling of the four, Tracker Whitefeather, who’s crime-fighting name would come to be known as “The Fire Ant”. Each of the four members of “The Tribe” having characteristics of their name sakes. Also each of the four had touched the earth worm that went down into the hole. That meant they inherited its regenerative properties. Agent Crandel didn’t know it yet, but he had just launched “The Tribe” into their career of fighting crime, and injustice.

As the three SUVs made their way back out the gravel roads to the blacktop, three figures flew far above and silently through the sky watching the SUVs below. When the vehicles stopped their progress they were at an old cannery that had been closed a very long time. The SUVs disappeared into a garage opening.

Daniel brought the three person team down on top of the building. Light from the city helped provide illumination. Tracker took a moment to breath in the warm summer air and to look to the west where he could see the makings of a storm. Heat lightning flashed announcing that the storm might be all bark and no bite. Typical for a summer night near the desert. Suddenly the quiet of the night was broke by someone barking orders on the street below. Bright lights suddenly filled the dark night with beams of illumination as they raced toward the darkness of space. One of the lights caught the threesome on the corner of the building roof.

“Quick duck into the shadows.” Tracker ordered. Gunshots rang out and the siblings could hear some of the bullets ricocheting off the building. “Scumbags didn’t hesitate to start shooting did they?” As Tracker barked the bullets continued to be flying and ricocheting by them. “Stick to the plan! Lets get Tonk and get out of here. We can think about getting even later after we’ve secured Tonk’s release. When we get inside the building we’ll go down floor by floor searching. We can split up. You two take the first floor we come to, I’ll go down one flight and search that level. If someone gets into trouble, pound the floor three times and our ability to feel vibrations (thanks to the earth worm properties) will alert the others to hurry to provide aid.”

“Copy that!” Daniel hollered back through the noise of the hail of bullets being fired at them. Due to the angle the men shooting from the ground quickly lost any chance of hitting the threesome as they made their way toward the center of the building’s roof where the door to go down was located. Tracker burned the handle off the door and they entered the building.

Quickly they raced down the stairs. Down below the sound of men rushing up the stairs, could be heard. Seta and Daniel took the top floor while Tracker rushed down a level and searched that floor. They met at the stairway located on the opposite side of the building as it had stairways on both sides. Men could be heard making their way up that stairway as well.

“I got this.” Tracker said to his friends. Then he reared back and using both hands shot a wide burst of fire down the staircase. Screams could be heard along with the sound of doors being flung open while the men ducked into the floor closest to them. Meantime the three friends went down and searched the next two floors of the building. When they met at the staircase on the opposite side of building, Tracker shot another round of fire down that side of the stairs. Again men screamed, doors flung open and by the time the three siblings made it down another two flights, there was nobody there to resist them.

As they made their way through that pair of floor levels, Seta and Daniel felt the vibration message from Tracker on the floor below them. He had found Tonka and was sending for them to cease their search and focus on their escape. Now all four were back together at the stairs. ‘

“Up!” Tracker ordered.

The four raced up the building stairs until they burst out on the building rooftop. They were surprised to discover a team had been sent to cover the rooftop. They must have climbed the opposite set of stairs, thought Tracker. At the same time he raised his hands shooting fire so hot it literally melted the bullets that had been fired at them. Tracker kept it up and created a wall of super heat that prevented any bullets from getting more than a couple feet past its intense heat. By the time the wall began to loose its intensity the government men could find no sign of the intruders that had been behind the wall of fire.

Meantime Daniel was flying all three of his siblings through the night in silence. He set down not far from the building where the fighting had taken place.

“Lets walk a ways. When we feel like it is safe, we can fly home. Or if it doesn’t feel safe we can wait until Daniel is rested and he can take us home without fear of being spotted by the enemy.” Tracker said.

“Or you could just take a different route than us.” Daniel said. “They will track your fire blazing through the sky but if they send jets just shoot them down.”

“I’d expect something like that happening to make the national news.” Seta said. “Not so sure it would be worth the attention.”

“She’s right.” Tonka said. “I have gotten to know our … opponents, well enough to know they don’t like attention any more than we do. I think we can count on their discretion.

“That helps. It helps them as well because we should expose the creeps. I guess as long as we achieve the goal, it doesn’t matter how we get there.” Seta noted with an upbeat tone to her voice.

“You sure seem to be in a good mood considering the troubles we are likely facing.” Daniel said. “Did you have a good date?” He smiled, thinking of his own time that night.

“Could have been worse. How about you?” Seta asked.

“It was good.” Daniel said, and smiled.

“What about you Tracks? Have a good date?” Seta asked.

“Shoot I don’t know. It started out good. She’s so unbelievably naive that it drives me crazy.”

Daniel laughed. “What’s she doing this time?”

“Going out to dinner with her ex-boyfriend. They’re just friends don’t you know?” Tracker said in disgust.

“Hang in there Tracks!” Seta said, also laughing. “I warned you this is what you were going to endure if you hooked up with an air-head.”

“She’s not stupid. She’s just very naive. What I am left wondering more than anything else, is this: are the guys she sees as friends, not making any moves on her? Or are they and she is just shooting them down and still believing they just want to be friends. I mean it has to be one or the other and I find it really hard to believe these guys are going out with her and not making any moves.”

“Help me to understand.” Seta asked. “What is it about her that sets her above your many other choices for girlfriends?”

“Well first, I wouldn’t make the claim I have ‘many’ other choices, but setting that aside since it doesn’t effect my reasons for choosing Dancing Rabbit, I will tell you.” Tracker then paused, perhaps arranging his thoughts before speaking. “The thing about her is … how she’s such a girl. Everything she does is so feminine. I’ve never seen her do it, but I would be willing to bet she can make taking out the garbage, sexy. Or working on a homework project, or mopping a floor, or changing a diaper. Everything she does, she approaches it with such a feminine approach that you are just hit over the head with girl. Maybe the better way to describe it is you know how some guys just have an overwhelming feminine quality about them? She has that; it doesn’t stick out quite as much because she’s a girl, so she’s naturally suppose to fall that direction. The thing is she does it so incredibly well. I bet if you put her in a room with kids that are ‘momma’s boys’, that they would naturally migrate toward her.”

“I had no idea you were such a momma’s boy.” Seta said.

“Come on. You know I am not that.” Tracker replied. “But I am a man. One that appreciates the opposite sex. So should it be such a surprise that I am attracted to the more girly-girl types?”

Seta burst out laughing. “Dude, you’re out with three others who ALSO have aqquired special power because they were all out trespassing on a dirty piece of land that its attraction is a big hole with apparently no bottom. Please point out to me where the girly-girl stuff is in that equation?”

Tracker responded to her laughter with his own. “My dear sister.” He shook his head. “Let me ask you this? When we were finished and had arrived back at home from our trespass: was your first notion to contact a boy from our class that is known for playing in the dirt? Or was it to contact Glider? A guy not known for playing in the dirt, or for working on a car. So are we so different?”

Seta thought for a minute and said, “I guess not. I never looked at it from that perspective.”

“If you were a guy, you would have a chest with more hair on it than any of us.” Tracker said laughing. He was joined by the others.

“At this age,” Seta said, “I would venture a guess that we are all about even in that department.”

“Fair enough.” Tracker replied. “But you know what I mean.”

“Think we are far enough and that there has been enough time passed, that we can now fly home?” Seta asked. “I don’t know about contacting Glider, but I sure would like to make some contact with my bed.”

“Sounds good. I think we all could use some serious sleep. We need to be aware however that tomorrow morning we are probably going to be faced with another visit from our favorite buddy, agent Craps-his-pants.” Tonka said with a wry smile to his tone. “I know one thing for certain. tomorrow I will be able to face him, this, a lot better than tonight. Lets go home.”

The foursome split into two pairs and they flew home.
